A "high number" of Britons are expected to take holidays in Barbados over the coming months, it has been reported. According to bmi airport manager at Manchester Brian Quinn peak season is approaching for the tropical paradise and the airline is "expecting a very high number of passengers travelling to Barbados". The Barbados Tourism Authority recently won two UK travel awards for the way in which it promoted the country as a tourist destination. "We are immensely proud to have won these awards. They reflect our rightful position as the world's premier holiday island," commented Petra Roach, Vice-President of Marketing and Sales for Europe. People enjoying holidays in Barbados can entertain themselves with trips to attractions like Welchman Hall Gully where visitors can get a glimpse of what the island was like 300 years ago while the island's many rum distilleries are also a popular attraction.
