Artist hopes for largest nude shoot in Mexico - 02 May 2007
Famed photographer Spencer Tunick is planning to shoot the largest crowd of nudes ever in Mexico next week.
The American pioneer is hoping to beat his 2003 record, when he photographed 7,000 nudes in Barcelona.
"This could be my largest work ever", said the artist at a news conference.
New York native Tunick has worked in places as diverse as Melbourne, Chile and Montreal.
The shoot is to take place at Mexico City's Zocalo, which - as fans of holidays in Mexico will know - is one of the destination's historic landmarks.
At the Zocalo, visitors will find themselves at the hub of Mexico City's cultural activity.
Tunick told the Associated Press he was "pleased to announce that my art installation would be at one of the nicest and oldest places in the world".
The project's verve and gusto is characteristic of holidays in Mexico.
Visitors can enjoy the destination's effortless blend of traditional and modern influence, taking in the spectacle of the hotspot's stunning architecture before sampling the lively nightlife.
And holidaymakers lucky enough to be there next week could find themselves making art history.
