Destination information - South Africa

What to see and do: Sun City is the perfect item to put on your itinerary. There are beaches, golf courses and, most importantly, South Africa’s largest casino. It is also conveniently located just next to the Pilanesberg Nature Reserve.

In Cape Town it is worth taking in, among other attractions, Table Mountain. At the top of the table car fantastic views across the whole cape will greet you. Cape Point is also worth visiting. A veritable graveyard for ships from the past which smashed into the rocks on this treacherous stretch of sea which marks the divide between the Indian and the Atlantic oceans before it was the site for the worlds most powerful lighthouse.

The Kruger National Park is one of the best game reserves in the world. No argument. With some of the most well trained rangers you will see the most astonishing animals in this unquestionably dramatic setting.

Regional Activities: Being at the meeting point of the Indian and the Atlantic ocean has its advantages. The surf in South Africa is legendary. There are a number of small places which have reputations for having the best surf and if you ask any surfer they will direct you to your nearest one. You can also pick up a good board for a lot less than you would at home.

Scuba diving is also very popular in South Africa. A cheap (but safe) place to get your open water PADI license it has some fantastic wreck diving on the cape coast. Further up to the north-east there are coral reefs and exotic fish aplenty.

Also available is bungee jumping, paragliding, skiing (!), white water rafting and a whole host of other activities. If you are feeling particularly foolhardy then it is possible to go shark cage diving off the southern cape.
