Explore the unique, unspoilt and varied culture of Vietnam stretching over 1,000 miles up the Indochinese peninsula.
From 1975-89, Vietnam had its doors closed to the outside world; the effect of this was to preserve some of the most unique culture and beautiful landscapes to be found in South East Asia. Vietnam now welcomes visitors, giving you the opportunity to discover this enchanting land.
In the south of the country there is Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon), with its vibrant nightlife and bustling markets, as well as the nearby Mekong Delta, with its lush vegetation, in this area the Cu Chi tunnels – a labyrinth of underground passages - are a popular destination. Those travelling up the coast towards Danang will come across some truly breathtaking coastlines before reaching the awe inspiring Hue – gateway to the forbidden city – which contains an array of lotus lakes, pagodas and ancient tombs.
In the north lies the Capital city Hanoi, often described as the ‘Paris of the east’, due to its retention of many of its French colonial features, a reminder of the countries torrid past. To the east of Hanoi lies Halong Bay, boasting some of the best beaches in Asia, as well as topaz coloured water and 1,000’s of islets and grottos waiting to be explored. This is not to mention the enchanting northwest highlands, with unbelievable mountain scenery and colourful hill tribes.
