Between St Vincent, famous for its coconut groves and banana plantations,
and the'Spice Island' of Grenada, stretches a one hundred kilometre string
of some of the world's most idyllic islands. Among these are Bequia,
Mustique and the Tobago Cays, each outstandingly beautiful, surrounded
by the purest of turquoise waters and pristine beaches. These islands are
the favourite of the yachting fraternity and flotillas are to be seen at
anchor whilst their crew explore the virginal corals beneath.
Union Island, some sixty kilometres south of St Vincent, has a rugged and
mountainous interior and is the gateway for our selected Grenadinian
resort of Palm Island. Time should be taken during your stay to visit the island to enjoy a two-hour walk around the interior, keep a watchful eye for
pelicans and, from Fort Hill, the panoramic view across dozens of
neighbouring islands is awesome.
Boats and catamarans can be chartered from the island to explore some of
the closer islets and cays and this really is an opportunity not to be missed.
By night, before returning to your luxurious hideaway island resort, stroll
along to Lambi's Restaurant for a buffet dinner - the company is good, the
dining casual and the nightly steel band memorable. To cap it all the
restaurant will usually ferry you home!
