A beautiful, unspoilt Caribbean hideaway.
St Kitts is stunningly beautiful. The interior of this volcanic island boasts impressive mountains, surrounded by lush tropical forest and vast fields of sugarcane, the coast has some fabulous beaches.
The beaches on the southeast of the island have sugar white sand and a fabulous view across to Nevis, St Kitts' sister island. Elsewhere on the island the beaches are often black volcanic sand. There is a contrast between the Caribbean and Atlantic coasts of the island, the Caribbean coast has beaches with wide stretches of white sand, some can be rocky, the Atlantic coast is more exposed and has larger waves.
Most of the hotels are located on the south-eastern peninsular of St Kitts where some of the best beaches, bathing and watersports can be found. The capital Basseterre, a picturesque colonial harbour town, is just above the peninsular and has some great restaurants and a casino. It is also the departure point for excursions to Nevis which is just 40 minutes away by boat.
St Kitts is lesser known than many of it neighbours and therefore is generally quieter and less crowded, perfect for a truly relaxing holiday in magnificent surroundings.
