St Barts is a small yet beautifully formed member of the French Caribbean Islands. It is located 125 miles northwest of Guadeloupe, and 15 miles southeast of St Martin.
Known as hang out for the rich and famous, St Barts’ many beautiful beaches are dotted with luxury hotels and villas, designed for those who appreciate privacy. Some of the top hotels in the world can be found here.
The island is only 6 miles long, yet it has over 20 stunning white sand beaches and numerous secluded coves. The main resort area and most popular beach is Baie de Saint-Jean, which is split into two beaches divided by Eden Rock. There are several beach bars and restaurants and a range of water sports on offer. Other good beaches are Marigot, Loirent and Grand Cul de Sac on the north coast, and Anse du Gouverneur and Anse de Grande Saline on the south coast.
There is plenty to explore on St Barts. Gustavia, the capital, has a picturesque harbour, a selection of chic duty free boutiques, and several superb French restaurants. Around the island there are some beautiful villages, breathtaking turquoise lagoons and lush rolling hills.
