Nevis, the sister island of St.Kitts, is a beautiful, peaceful and laid back paradise island.
St. Kitts and Nevis are often compared to the lush tropical paradise usually associated with the South Pacific. From a distance Nevis looks like a perfect cone emerging from the sea, the forest surrounding the mountain is filled with tropical flowers and wildlife which can be explored with the aid of a local guide.
Nevis has many superb white sandy beaches, perfect for sunbathing, swimming and snorkelling. The most famous of the beaches is Pinney’s Beach which stretches for four miles along the west coast and is within easy reach of Charlestown the capital. Charlestown is one of the best preserved towns in the Caribbean with some interesting buildings dating from the 18th century, it also has a good selection of shops and restaurants.
Most of the hotels are on the north-western Caribbean coast of the island, the accommodation is generally of a high standard and there are some beautifully converted colonial plantation houses. Many of the hotels have excellent restaurants, otherwise there are some good places to eat in Charlestown. The hotels offer a great range of activities and watersports.
Nevis is a perfect destination to get away from it all, it is less developed in terms of tourism and nightlife than many Caribbean islands, which is the reason why most people chose to go there.
