Guadeloupe holiday information
Lush tropical rainforests, magnificent beaches and picturesque villages.

Guadeloupe is made up of two islands connected by bridge. To the east lies Grande-Terre, known for its white sand beaches and rolling hills. To the west lies Basse-Terre, the larger of the two islands, dominated by mountains and the surrounding rainforest. Most of the hotels are on the southern shore of Grand-Terre where many of the islands best beaches can be found, long sheltered stretches of golden sand leading to beautiful turquoise waters. The economic capital of Guadeloupe, bustling Pointe-à-Pitre is also located here. The capital of Guadeloupe is on the remote southwestern coast of Basse-Terre and is also known as Basse-Terre. It is a charming town with narrow streets, attractive squares and some fine buildings remaining from the colonial period. Guadeloupe is a department/region of France, this is evident in the cuisine and language, however, the people and culture of the island are an interesting mix of European, African and East Indian influences which make this an enchanting and interesting Carribean destination.
Guadeloupe Weather ChartGuadeloupe is warm year-round, but the best time to go is December to April. The wettest months are July to November, which is also the hurricane season.
