The archipelagos of French Polynesia are made up of 115 volcanic islands and coral atolls including Tahiti and Bora Bora. Idyllic beaches, crystal clear waters and a fantastic service have propelled these photogenic islands into being one of the choice destinations for holidaymakers from all over the world.
Divided into two groups of islands, the Society Islands and the Tuamotu atolls, French Polynesia feels a little like walking onto into a James Bond film. There are stylish bars and casinos, endless white beaches, beach huts on stakes in the water and marvellous food. Tourism, along with pearling, is the main industry for these Islands so expect a high level of service and excellent facilities.
Tahiti is the largest and most densely populated of all the Islands. Watersports feature highly here; the favourites being waterskiing, wind surfing and snorkelling. One of the best things about the hotels on Tahiti is that they are very convenient for the airport, ferry port and shopping without being disturbed by them.
Bora Bora is the source of countless photographs in brochures and travel agent windows. Turquoise water in long sandy lagoons, endless white palm treed beaches and private bungalows on stakes in the water. What more could you want from a tropical island paradise?
