White sand, clear turquoise water and a reputation as one of the Caribbean’s most sophisticated islands, make the Cayman Islands one of the world’s foremost tropical destinations.
The British Crown Colony of the Cayman Islands is comprised of Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman, and is situated 480 miles south of Miami, and 180 miles northwest of Jamaica in the Caribbean Sea.
On offer is some of the best snorkelling and diving in the world, with the different Islands offering different challenges and varying marine environments. For those who like to stay on dry land the beaches of the Cayman Islands are said to be among the best in the Caribbean. As well as offering the full range of water sports, there is year round deep-sea game fishing, plus shore fishing on all three Islands.
Grand Cayman, home of the Capital George Town is the most developed of the Caymans. The Island itself is covered in lush green vegetation especially the East End, whereas the west of the Island is dominated by North Sound, a 40 square mile lagoon, featuring mangroves and reefs, the largest of its kind in the Caribbean. Also in the west of the Island is Seven Mile Beach where the bulk of the tourist developments are situated, it is here where many of Grand Caymans restaurants are situated, ranging from the height of sophistication to fast food outlets. Why not try some of the local specialities, fish, seafood and turtle meat!
