Aruba holiday information
A beautiful, romantic Caribbean hideaway.

Aruba is the smallest of the 'ABC' group of islands in the Netherlands Antilles. Located 25km north of Venezuela, Aruba has a beautiful, dramatic, landscape consisting of many weird and wonderful plants, caves and sparse areas where the spectacular divi divi trees lean permanently west due to the strong trade winds. There are many points of interest upon the island of Aruba; one of which being the Arikok National Park which covers almost 20% of the island. It contains Aruba's second highest point which is linked to other beauty spots by trails for cars or walkers. The old gold mining operation at Miralamas and the Spanish Lagoon area is also included within the boundaries of the National park. There are many beautiful sandy beaches on both sides of the island, although fewer on the eastern side of the island where the sea can be rough and choppy. Virtually every type of watersport is available on the island with most being provided by hotels. Those activities which are not offered by hotels can be arranged by tour agencies. Aruba is excellent for windsurfing and surfers from all over the world come here to experience world-class conditions and the famous trade winds. Although speeds are high and there is a strong off shore wind, surfing here is very safe. Diving and snorkelling conditions around the island are generally very good, with a bonus point being the coral reef which is located off the west side of the island from California reef to Baby Beach reef. There are many sites around the island which are suitable for beginners where a vast array of sea life can be found. For more experienced divers, the eastern side of the island has stronger currents. Organised boat trips visit the two wrecks off the island worth visiting- the Antilla and the Pedernales. Unlike many of the Caribbean islands, Aruba is out of the hurricane belt and therefore the risk of bad weather is low and the climate is generally dry.
Aruba Weather ChartThe most popular time of year to visit is between December and April when the temperatures are cooler, however the temperature is rarely lower than 26°C. Tropical showers occur from October - December.
