The countdown to cricket’s greatest festival has begun

With less than a year to go before the first ball is bowled in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2007, on March 13th, the Caribbean is getting itself ready for this exciting sporting spectacle. Michelle Gibson, Publications Officer for the ICC says "it's only March and we can feel the energy that surrounds us in the anticipation of next year's big event". With ‘Freddy’ Flintoff and the boys competing well in Pakistan and India this spring and last years memorable Ashes win, there is a real belief that England can go all the way in the 2007 Cricket World Cup in March.

What better place to hold such a festival of sport than on the beautiful, tropical and scenic Caribbean Islands. Nine countries within the Caribbean will play host to the one day matches that will determine the World Champions. Jamaica, St Lucia, St Kitts & Nevis and Trinidad & Tobago are where the initial round robin tournaments will be played. Antigua, Barbuda, Grenada and Guyana host the knock out games, with Barbados the home for the final (full timetable). With competing nations from all over the globe descending on the islands, and the fun nature of the game and atmosphere generated by good natured fans, it promises to be an even more exciting March in the Caribbean thank usual!

However if cricket is not you thing, and you think worrying about Michael Vaughn’s positioning of his silly-mid-on in relation to his silly-mid-off, is a crazy way to spend the long sunny days typical of a Caribbean in Spring time, then there are plenty of other things for you to do. Whether you want to experience the laid back pace of life in the home of reggae, Jamaica, or relax on one of Antigua’s 365 palm fringed beaches, there really is something in the Caribbean Islands for everyone.

So a trip to the Caribbean next Spring makes an ideal break for everyone, with a global, sporting competition providing entertainment for some, the Caribbean’s delights are always at hand for those not interested, or needing a break from the action. So don’t delay and run the risk of missing our on this unique holiday, book with Iglu today.
